As a Spanish family, we wanted to take the Tapas tour, they offered petiscos which are the Portuguese version of tapas. Unlike the ones in Spain we tried the ones with fish. João, our guide, told us about the background information about almost every dish. We enjoyed every bite and every minute. They were very delicious but the ones in Portugal were smaller than the ones in Spain. Walking around Bairro Alto was one of the best parts of the tour.

Lisbon has been on my bucket list for ages and finally my boyfriend and I got here. While I was searching for the city, I came up with this company; Discover Lisbon. We attended the Fado tour to spend some romantic time together. Our guide was Ana and what we have learned from her is that fado does not have to make you feel romantic, it can even make you feel better if you’re with other people or your friends and family. She was translating the songs to us for the whole time and they were very touching. We met a couple of people and everyone was so nice to each other.

My family wanted to join a free tour with Discover Lisbon but I did not very curious about it because my English is not so good and the tour was in English. Then I learned that the tour guide Alex was also French like us and he encouraged me. He checked on us during the tour but he was very easy to follow up yet we are really thankful for his thoughtfulness. We have learned more than we wanted about both Alfama and Lisbon. We are planning to join another tour of them before our trip is over.

It was my first time in Lisbon so I wanted to get to know the city with a guide. Our guide was Natalia and she was the sweetest! I’ve always been fond of history and learning about a city’s historical background is what excites me the most. I preferred the Alfama walking tour and it was free. What I enjoyed the most was to have a quick chat with Natalia who obviously loves history like me. On the tour, we even learned about how the idea of Natas came up. I won’t give you a spoiler but I’ve learned crazy things about the ceramics in Lisbon, you can almost see them everywhere in the city. I tried bifanas as the guide suggested and I loved them. Lisbon is a great city and you should enjoy every minute of it.

Last-Minute Gem with Anna!
After my originally booked tour with another company was canceled because of rain, I quickly scrambled to find a replacement and ended up joining Anna’s Alfama tour, which turned out to be an incredible stroke of luck. Despite the rainy weather, there were no cancellations on this tour, and Anna’s energy and humor made the experience truly unforgettable. She kept the entire group engaged with lively storytelling, happily took photos for those who wanted, and even went above and beyond by stopping to share extra curiosities and details along the way. Anna is a fantastic guide who really made the best of a wet day and turned it into one of my favorite memories in Lisbon!

This was my second tour with Discover Lisbon, and once again, it gave real meaning to the city streets I’d walked by so many times. This time, I joined the Bairro Alto tour, led by Natalia.
Knowing I was into architecture, she tailored parts of the tour just for me, weaving in stories and details that kept my attention, even under the hot Lisbon sun. The mix of Lisbon nightlife and local history was the perfect combo, showing how the city transforms from day to night.
What made this tour even more special was Natalia’s Brazilian background. Her “intercontinental” take on Portuguese culture gave the conversation a richer perspective. Plus, she was super friendly, helped with my Portuguese, and knew exactly where to snap the best photos.
If you want a fun, insightful walk through Bairro Alto, filled with history, hidden gems, and local nightlife tips, this is the one. Totally recommended.

After a long travel day filled with delays and a missed connection, my partner and I were exhausted and frustrated. The last thing we expected was to end the night feeling uplifted, but that’s exactly what happened thanks to a beautiful Fado experience in Lisbon.
We didn’t know much about Fado music—just that it was supposed to be emotional and maybe a little sad. But our guide changed that perception completely. She gave context before the show started and continued sharing insights between performances, answering all our questions with patience and enthusiasm. She spoke English fluently and made the whole group feel comfortable and welcome.
The guitar melodies were mesmerizing, and even though we don’t speak Portuguese, the emotion in the singing was unmistakable. It truly moved us.
That night reminded us how powerful music can be. We walked in drained and left with full hearts. If you’re curious about Fado but unsure whether it’s for you, trust me, it’s an experience not to miss.

A scheduling mix-up led us to Discover Lisbon’s Tapas Food tour—and it turned out to be the best part of our trip. Our guide, David, was knowledgeable, funny, and engaging, making the experience both informative and entertaining. The food was exceptional, with visits to hidden local gems we wouldn’t have found on our own. What began as a mistake became a highlight—highly recommended for any food lover visiting Lisbon!
